2. Principles of Data Processing

artbackstage processes personal data only to the extent necessary to operate this tool collection. The tool collection is a free educational service with no advertising and no user accounts. No tracking technologies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics services are used.

3. Scenario Submissions (Anonymous Usage Data)

Data collected: When users submit a scenario through the planning tools, the following information is stored: language (de/en), scenario name (user-defined), questionnaire answers (A/B/C/D per question), calculated income values (anonymous), typology classification, and a timestamp.

What is not stored: IP address, full name, e-mail address, user account, or any other direct identifier.

Note on scenario names: Please do not use personally identifying information (e.g. your own name) as a scenario name. The field is free-text and is stored in the database.

Purpose: Analysis of anonymous usage patterns to improve the tools in the context of the teaching assignment at Kunstuniversität Linz.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in improving the educational offering). Processing is limited to the minimum necessary for that educational purpose.

Retention: Anonymous scenario data is retained for the duration of the teaching assignment and deleted thereafter.

4. Video Calls (Jitsi as a Service / 8×8)

The feedback and consultation feature uses Jitsi as a Service (JaaS) provided by 8×8, Inc., a US company. Use of the video feature only occurs when users actively join a video room.

Data processed by 8×8: IP address, connection data, audio/video data during the call. artbackstage does not store conversation content or recordings.

International transfer: 8×8, Inc. is based in the United States. The transfer takes place on the basis of the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (European Commission adequacy decision of 10 July 2023, C(2023) 4745) and Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a service requested by the user) and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent through actively joining the video room).

5. No Cookies or Tracking

This website does not use cookies and does not employ third-party tracking or analytics services. No Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or comparable service is used.

Fonts are not loaded from external CDN services; no data is transmitted to Google Fonts or other font providers.

6. Server Logs

The web server records technically necessary access data (IP address, date, time, URL requested, HTTP status code, browser type). These data are used exclusively for operational security and error diagnosis and are deleted after a maximum of 30 days.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure operation of the website).

7. Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the following rights:

• Access (Art. 15 GDPR): Right to obtain information about data stored about you.
• Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): Right to have inaccurate data corrected.
• Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR): Right to deletion, where no legal retention obligation applies.
• Restriction (Art. 18 GDPR): Right to restrict processing.
• Objection (Art. 21 GDPR): Right to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
• Portability (Art. 20 GDPR): Right to receive your data in a machine-readable format.
• Complaint (Art. 77 GDPR): Right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde), Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, dsb.gv.at.
